Search ads grew by 39% in UK in 2007

In 2007 search ads grew by 39% in United Kingdom, in line with overall growth, to £1.6 bln ($3.14 bln) (£1.2 bln ($2.35 bln) in 2006), according to Internet Advertising Bureau.Search market share remained largely the same at 57.6% (57.8% in 2006). Classified advertising grew 54% year-on-year and was worth £585.3 mln ($1, 15 bln) in 2007, as consumers and marketers recognized online’s exceptional reach, flexibility and immediacy.

17.2 bln Yellow Pages searches in 2007

The Yellow Pages Association announced that 2007 Yellow Pages usage grew to 17.2 bln searches in 2007, up from 16.7 bln in 2006. Print usage remained stable with 13.4 bln print Yellow Pages references, unchanged from 2006, according to the 2007 Knowledge Networks/SRI (KN/SRI) Industry Usage Study, while comScore reports Internet Yellow Pages (IYP) searches increased 15% in 2007 to 3.8 bln, up from 2006’s 3.3 bln IYP searches. Approximately 87% of the US population used the print Yellow Pages in 2007. Average number of monthly IYP searchers up 16%: 73 mln IYP searchers per month in 2007, compared to 63.1 mln IYP searchers per month in 2006. Of the 144 mln people performing local searches online in December 2007, over half (51%) used IYPs.
