17 mln US households have HDTVs, but no HD programming

39 mln US households contain an HDTV, but only 22 mln of those hi-tech homes have signed up for HD programming. On a more positive note, the report said the number of high-definition households with an HDTV and HD programming was up 40% in 2008, In-Stat said.
